Reptile Health Tracking
Reptiles are ectothermic and highly sensitive to temperature, humidity, and UVB lighting. Most health problems stem from husbandry errors — consistent environment checks alongside health metrics prevent the majority of issues.

Emotional health matters too

Reptile health monitoring tips
What to watch for when tracking your reptile’s health.
- Ensure a proper thermal gradient — most species need a basking spot of 30–35 °C and a cool side of 22–26 °C
- Weigh monthly — weight loss > 10% over four weeks warrants a fecal exam for parasites
- Track shedding cycles — retained shed or incomplete ecdysis signals humidity or nutritional problems
- Monitor feeding response on schedule — appetite changes are the clearest early illness signal in reptiles
- Lethargy beyond normal brumation patterns, or combined with discoloration, warrants veterinary attention
